Description

  • Krishna is a major Hindu deity worshiped in a variety of different perspectives. Krishna is recognised as the Svayam Bhagavan in his own right or as the complete/absolute incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
  • Krishna is one of the most widely revered and popular of all Hindu deities. Krishna is also known as Govinda, Mukunda, Madhusudhana, and Vasudeva.
  • Krishna’s personality is clearly a composite one, though the different elements are not easily separated. The Krishna who emerged from the blending of these figures was ultimately identified with the supreme god Vishnu-Narayana and, hence, considered his avatar.
  • His worship preserved distinctive traits, chief among them an exploration of the analogies between divine love and human love. Thus, Krishna’s youthful dalliances with the gopis are interpreted as symbolic of the loving interplay between God and the human soul.
  • The flute of Krishna symbolizes divine music. It is the call from the Lord, inviting every creature to his abode.
  • Lord Krishna is the ideal of divine love, the God of love. The flute also symbolizes a human heart, which is made hollow (i.e. free from worldly thoughts).
